Wed Nov 06 19:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Releases Video of Deputy-Involved Shooting
**Lawrenceville, GA** – The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office has released a heavily edited video detailing an October 7th incident where deputies exchanged gunfire with an armed man in their own parking lot. The video, which was captured from various security and body camera footage, shows Emmanuel Patrick Bearden, 44, of Peachtree Corners, arriving at the jail with his young daughter.
Bearden’s behavior reportedly seemed erratic. He initially stated he was there to file charges against his mother, claiming she hired bounty hunters to kill him. After becoming agitated and raising his voice, he left the jail with his daughter.
The video shows Bearden placing his daughter in the back seat of his car before retrieving a shotgun from the passenger seat. Deputies reacted by moving civilians to safety and taking cover. Bearden initially held his hands up but then grabbed the gun and took cover behind his car.
The video then shows deputies surrounding Bearden and exchanging gunfire with him. The footage also highlights the efforts taken to keep the public safe during the incident. Bearden’s daughter was unharmed and released to family, while he was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is conducting an independent investigation into the shooting. Bearden has not been booked into the Gwinnett County Jail.
The released video, while edited to protect the investigation, provides a glimpse into the chaotic events that led to the deputy-involved shooting. The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office has not provided an update on Bearden’s current condition.
