**New Delhi, November 7, 2024:** Delhi residents woke up to another day of hazardous air quality on Thursday, with a thick layer of smog blanketing the city. The Air Quality Index (AQI) at 9 am stood at 367, firmly in the “very poor” category. A worrying nine stations across the city – including Anand Vihar, Ashok Vihar, and Sonia Vihar – recorded AQI levels in the “severe” category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts clear skies throughout the day, with the possibility of smog during the day and shallow fog at night. The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 18.0 degrees Celsius, slightly warmer than usual.
This latest episode of severe air pollution in Delhi underscores the ongoing challenge of managing vehicular emissions and other contributing factors. While authorities continue to address the issue, the persistent poor air quality remains a major concern for public health.
