**Tezpur, Assam:** A preparatory meeting was held at the Sonitpur District Commissioner’s office to ensure a peaceful and secure celebration of Chhath Puja. District Commissioner Ankur Bharali stressed the importance of upholding the puja’s sanctity and preventing any disruption by anti-social elements.

Superintendent of Police Barun Purkayastha outlined detailed security and traffic management plans, emphasizing the need for active volunteer participation by puja committees. He urged adherence to rules regarding loudspeaker usage, puja timings, and prompt reporting of suspicious activity.

ADC (Magistracy) Twahir Alam reviewed the previous year’s meeting decisions and highlighted key guidelines for this year’s celebration. These include ensuring adequate lighting and barricades near puja ghats, adhering to water level reports from the Irrigation and Water Resources department, and active roles for river police and the municipality. He also emphasized the safety measures to be implemented by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

The meeting was attended by senior officials including Additional SP (HQ) Madhurima Das, JDHS, Circle Officers of Tezpur, EO of Tezpur Municipal Board, District Information & Public Relations Officer, and representatives from various Chhath Puja committees.
