**Arkkadu:** The 4th day of Kandhasasti celebrations at the renowned Ratnakkiri Balamurugan temple, known as the 7th abode of the deity, witnessed a massive turnout of devotees on Tuesday. The temple, under the control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, saw a special adornment of Lord Balamurugan with a Navaratna Angi (a garment studded with nine precious gems) and a silver Vel (spear) and rooster flag.

The day began with special abhishekam and archanai for the deity, followed by a special pooja conducted by Balamurugan Adimai Swamigal. The Lord, adorned in his majestic attire, graced the devotees alongside Valli and Deivanai.

Later, in a procession, the deity, seated on a silver peacock, toured the temple grounds, accompanied by auspicious music. Thousands of devotees chanted “Arohara” and paid their respects.

The evening featured a captivating Bharatanatyam performance.

The Kandhasasti celebrations, which commenced on the 2nd of October, will continue until the 8th. The temple will be decked out in different attire each day for the divine darshan. The highlight, the “Surasamharam” event, where the Lord vanquishes Surapadman, is scheduled for the 7th of October.

Similar celebrations were held at the Sundara Vinayagar Temple on Valaja Anicut Road, with special poojas offered to Valli Devasena Sameda Subramanya Swamy. The deity was seen seated on a Naga Vahanam (snake vehicle) in a special alankaram, symbolizing the Shiva pooja.
