**Hyderabad, India** – Skoda has officially entered the subcompact SUV segment in India with the launch of their new car, the Skoda Kylaq. Built on a customized version of the MQB A0 platform, dubbed MQB 27, the Kylaq positions itself below the existing Skoda Kushaq in the company’s lineup.

The Skoda Kylaq comes with a starting price of ₹7.89 lakh (ex-showroom), and bookings opened on December 2nd, 2024. Its public debut is scheduled for the India Mobility Expo on January 17th, 2025, with deliveries commencing on January 27th.

**Design & Features**

The Kylaq boasts a modern and solid design language, making it the first Skoda car in India to adopt this new aesthetic. Notable features include a prominent, straight butterfly grille connected to slim LED DRLs, distinct wheel arches, and generous cladding on the lower doors and wheel arches. The rear echoes some Kushaq design elements but incorporates simpler, squared taillamps linked by a black trim strip.

Inside, the cabin mirrors the larger Kushaq with a 10-inch touchscreen, two-spoke steering wheel, and vertically-oriented side vents. The Kylaq comes equipped with features like power-adjustable front seats, a sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, a digital instrument cluster, and more on higher trims.

**Dimensions & Powertrain**

The Skoda Kylaq measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,783 mm in width, and 1,619 mm in height, with a 2,566 mm wheelbase. Skoda claims a ground clearance of 189 mm and a boot space of 446 liters.

Powering the Kylaq is the VW Group’s 1.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engine, a familiar unit used in other Skoda and VW vehicles in India. This engine generates 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, and comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

**Competition**

The Skoda Kylaq will be competing in a crowded segment against established players like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Mahindra XUV 3XO. Its pricing and feature set will be key factors in its success in this competitive market.
