Wed Nov 06 14:36:45 UTC 2024: ## Tirunelveli Collector Releases Water from Manimutharu Dam for “Pisana” Paddy Cultivation
**TIRUNELVELI, November 6, 2024:** Tirunelveli Collector K.P. Karthikeyan released water from the Manimutharu dam on Wednesday, benefiting “pisana” paddy cultivation in the areas of Zamin Singampatti, Ayansingampatti, Vairavikulam, South Pappankulam, and South Kallidaikurichi.
The release from the district’s largest reservoir will provide irrigation to a total of 2756.62 acres of land, according to the Collector. He stated that 35 cusecs of water will be released over a period of 146 days, starting from November 6th and continuing until March 31st, 2025.
However, Mr. Karthikeyan emphasized that the water release will be dependent on rainfall and inflow levels. He urged farmers to use water judiciously and cooperate with the Water Resources Department for effective distribution.
