**Washington D.C.** – Donald Trump has taken an early lead in the Electoral College, winning key states in the South and Midwest, according to initial projections by US media. Trump currently holds 105 electoral votes compared to Kamala Harris’s 27.

Trump has been projected to win Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia. Meanwhile, Harris has secured victories in Maryland, Massachusetts, Vermont and Washington D.C.

The Associated Press has also called New Jersey for the Democratic Party, adding 14 electoral votes to Harris’s total.

In a notable state-level race, Democrat Josh Stein has been projected to win the North Carolina gubernatorial election, defeating Republican Mark Robinson. Robinson’s campaign faced significant backlash following a CNN report detailing his alleged use of racist and offensive language online. Robinson, who was endorsed by Donald Trump, denied the allegations and filed a defamation lawsuit against CNN.

The race for the presidency remains close, with both candidates vying for key battleground states that will ultimately determine the winner.
