Skoda has officially launched its highly anticipated compact SUV, the Kylaq, in India, with prices starting at Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks Skoda’s entry into the booming compact SUV market, aiming to capture a significant share with its blend of style, safety, and affordability.

The Kylaq, which means “crystal” in Sanskrit, draws inspiration from Mount Kailash and incorporates Skoda’s signature “Modern Solid” design language. Its sleek lines, distinctive grille, and split headlamp setup create a modern and striking aesthetic. Inside, the Kylaq features a spacious cabin with a dual-tone dashboard, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an 8-inch digital driver display. It also boasts features like a sunroof, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, and leatherette upholstery on higher trims.

Despite its compact size, the Kylaq provides ample space for passengers and luggage. Its 446-litre boot capacity is class-leading, further enhanced by 60:40 split-folding rear seats. Safety is paramount with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and ISOFIX mounts across all trims.

Under the hood, the Kylaq is powered by a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine delivering 115 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, making it one of the most powerful options in its segment. Skoda claims a 0-100 km/h time of 10.5 seconds, highlighting the Kylaq’s sporty performance.

With its competitive pricing and comprehensive features, the Kylaq goes head-to-head with established rivals like the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV 3XO. Skoda is confident that its growing sales and service network will reach new customers across India.
