**New Delhi, India** – Skoda India has officially launched its compact SUV, the Kylaq, marking the brand’s entry into the highly competitive sub-4 meter segment. The Kylaq, which translates to “crystal” in Sanskrit, is Skoda’s smallest SUV yet and aims to propel the brand towards its goal of selling 100,000 units annually in India.
The Kylaq features a bold, new-age design inspired by Skoda’s latest “Modern Solid” design language. The SUV shares many similarities with its larger sibling, the Kushaq, but boasts a shorter wheelbase and overall length. Despite its smaller size, the Kylaq still manages to appear substantial with a well-proportioned design.
Inside, the Kylaq offers a familiar layout with a spacious cabin and numerous features, including a sunroof, keyless entry, wireless phone charger, and front seat ventilation. The Kylaq sets itself apart with powered seat adjustment for both the driver and front passenger. The spacious boot capacity of 446 liters further adds to its practicality.
The Kylaq is powered by a 1.0 TSI petrol engine that delivers 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox. Skoda claims a 0-100 kph time of 10.5 seconds, making it one of the quickest compact SUVs in the market.
Skoda has priced the Kylaq competitively starting at Rs 7.89 lakh, ex-showroom, India. The company is aiming to expand its reach with a wider sales and service network, targeting new cities and towns. The Kylaq will compete directly with strong rivals like the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet.
With the launch of the Kylaq, Skoda is well-positioned to make a significant impact in the highly competitive sub-4 meter SUV segment in India.
