Wed Nov 06 10:45:28 UTC 2024: ## Sharjah Cricket Stadium Makes History with 300th Men’s Match

**Sharjah, UAE:** The iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium has etched its name in the annals of cricketing history by becoming the first international venue to host 300 men’s matches. The milestone was achieved on Wednesday with the first ODI between Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

The stadium, a beloved venue in the UAE, has seen a remarkable journey since its first match in 1984, hosting a diverse array of formats including 252 ODIs, 38 T20s, and 10 Test matches.

Sri Lanka and Pakistan were the first teams to grace the pitch in an Asia Cup ODI back in 1984. Over the years, the stadium has been witness to several memorable tournaments, including the legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar’s seven ODI centuries, a feat matched only by Pakistan’s Saeed Anwar.

In recognition of Tendulkar’s achievements, the West Stand was aptly renamed the “Sachin Tendulkar Stand” on his 50th birthday in 2023.

Pakistan has been a prominent presence at the stadium, featuring in nearly 50% of the matches held there, with a total of 144 appearances. Sri Lanka (87) and India (72) complete the top three. India’s last appearance at the venue was in 2000, where they secured 35 wins.

The Sharjah Cricket Stadium continues to be a vibrant hub for cricket enthusiasts, celebrating its rich history and promising more thrilling matches in the years to come.
