**Talavadi, November 6, 2024:** A leopard that strayed into human habitation in Doddagajanur village in the Talavadi hills killed a goat on Wednesday, causing fear among local residents. The incident occurred when Rasappa, 42, discovered one of his goats dead and partially consumed in his shed the morning after tying his livestock there.
Villagers alerted the Talavadi Forest Range Office, who confirmed the goat’s death was caused by a leopard after examining pug marks at the scene. Locals expressed concern, alleging that a defunct quarry in the area is being used as a hideout by the animal, which has been preying on livestock and dogs for the past two years. The fear of venturing near the quarry has prompted villagers to call for effective measures to drive the leopard back into the forest.
