**Kochi, Kerala, November 6, 2024:** Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly has been cleared of rape charges following a thorough investigation by Kerala police.

The case, filed by a woman who alleged an assault in Dubai over a year ago, was dismissed due to a lack of evidence. The investigation revealed that Mr. Pauly was not present at the location on the date and time specified by the complainant.

“We have verified his emigration details, passport and other travel documents, credit card transactions, and so on,” said a senior police officer. “However, the documents did not match the claims of the complainant. There was no evidence to prove that the actor was present in the location as claimed by her.”

While the investigation against the other accused in the case will continue, Mr. Pauly has been exonerated. The actor had vehemently denied the allegations and claimed he believed there was a conspiracy behind the charges.

This development follows the publication of the Justice K. Hema Committee report, which highlighted instances of harassment and exploitation of women in the Malayalam film industry. Following the report, the Kerala government established a special investigation team to probe these allegations.
