Wed Nov 06 12:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Cowboys Make Trade Deadline Moves, Release Booth and Phillips
**FRISCO, Texas** – The Dallas Cowboys were active on Tuesday as the 2024 NFL trade deadline approached, making a number of roster moves.
In a bid to bolster their receiving corps, the Cowboys acquired wide receiver Jonathan Mingo from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick and a 2025 seventh-round pick.
However, the team also parted ways with two defensive players: cornerback Andrew Booth and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips. Both players were released on Tuesday afternoon, ending their brief stints in Dallas.
Booth was acquired from the Minnesota Vikings during training camp in August, while Phillips arrived via a trade with the New York Giants shortly after.
Phillips’ release means the Giants will receive a 2025 sixth-round pick in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round pick as part of the original trade agreement. The pick swap is contingent on Phillips playing in a minimum of two games this season, a condition he fulfilled despite spending time on injured reserve.
The departures of Booth and Phillips leave the Cowboys with a depleted defense, especially given the team’s recent struggles. The Cowboys have lost three consecutive games, while their upcoming opponent, the Philadelphia Eagles, are riding a four-game winning streak.
The Cowboys are also facing a significant injury crisis, with quarterback Dak Prescott likely to be placed on injured reserve, sidelining him for at least the next four games.
