**Kanpur, India:** The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has officially released the eligibility criteria for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025, the entrance exam for admission to prestigious IITs across India. **Key Eligibility Requirements:**
* **JEE Main Performance:** Candidates must be among the top 250,000 successful candidates (across all categories) in the BE/BTech paper (Paper 1) of JEE Main 2025.
* **Age Limit:** Candidates born on or after October 1, 2000, are eligible. SC, ST, and PwD candidates receive a five-year age relaxation, making them eligible if born on or after October 1, 1995.
* **Number of Attempts:** Candidates can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of three times in three consecutive years.
* **Class 12 Examination:** Candidates must have appeared for the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2023, 2024, or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Those who appeared in 2022 or earlier are ineligible.
* **Previous IIT Admission:** Candidates who have already been admitted to an IIT under any academic program listed in JoSAA business rules of 2024 or earlier are ineligible. This includes those whose admission was canceled after joining an IIT. However, candidates admitted to preparatory courses in IITs for the first time in 2024 are eligible.
**Reservation:** The 250,000 qualifying candidates include 10% general-EWS, 27% OBC-NCL, 15% SC, 7.5% ST, and 40.5% open category candidates. Within each category, there’s a 5% horizontal reservation for PwD candidates.
**Important Note:** The total number of candidates qualifying for JEE Advanced may exceed 250,000 due to tied ranks or scores in any category.
