Tue Nov 05 20:16:16 UTC 2024: ## Russian Agents Suspected in Fake Bomb Threats at Georgia Polling Sites
**Atlanta, GA** – Two polling locations in Fulton County, Georgia were briefly evacuated on Tuesday after receiving fake bomb threats, prompting accusations of Russian interference in the US election.
The threats, deemed non-credible by authorities, forced the closure of the sites for approximately 30 minutes. Both locations have since reopened, and Fulton County is seeking a court order to extend voting hours beyond the state-wide 7pm deadline.
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger directly blamed Russia for the bomb hoaxes, stating that they “don’t want us to have a smooth, fair and accurate election,” and that “if they can get us to fight among ourselves, they can count that as a victory.”
The FBI confirmed that they are aware of numerous non-credible bomb threats to polling locations in various states, with many originating from Russian email domains. A senior official within Raffensperger’s office, speaking anonymously, corroborated the connection to Russia, revealing that the threats were sent from email addresses previously used by Russian actors in past US election interference attempts.
This incident is the latest in a series of alleged Russian attempts to influence the 2024 election. Earlier this month, US intelligence officials warned that Russian agents created a fabricated video falsely depicting Haitian immigrants illegally voting in Georgia. They also identified a separate video falsely accusing an individual associated with Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign of taking a bribe.
The current US election is incredibly tight, with both Vice President Harris and former President Donald Trump vying for the presidency. The results are expected to be close, making these alleged attempts at election interference a significant concern.
