**Hyderabad, November 6, 2024** – The Telangana government launched a comprehensive household census on Wednesday, aiming to gather detailed information on the social, economic, educational, employment, political, and caste status of all 1.17 crore families in the state.
The census, which will use a 56-point questionnaire and 19 supplementary questions, is expected to provide valuable data for effective planning and implementation of welfare schemes. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka described the initiative as historic, emphasizing its role in ensuring equal benefits for all citizens as enshrined in the Constitution.
The exercise will involve 94,750 enumerators, who will visit each of the 87,092 enumeration blocks across Telangana. Over the next three days, enumerators will collect basic information, including house numbers and owner names, and affix stickers to the doors of participating households.
Following this initial phase, comprehensive data will be gathered and then digitized at the mandal and district levels under the supervision of nodal officers. The government has implemented measures to ensure data secrecy and maintain digital records.
Families are encouraged to have their Aadhar, PAN card, ration card, and Dharani passbook ready for swift and efficient data collection. The initiative is anticipated to provide a detailed understanding of the state’s socio-economic landscape and guide the government in its efforts to improve the lives of its citizens.
