Wed Nov 06 18:12:23 UTC 2024: ## Afghanistan Stuns Bangladesh in Thrilling ODI Opener

**Sharjah, UAE:** Afghanistan pulled off a stunning 92-run victory over Bangladesh in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on [Date]. The win was fueled by a phenomenal bowling performance from Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar, who bagged a record-breaking six wickets for just 26 runs, including a hat-trick.

Bangladesh, chasing a target of 236, were comfortably placed at 120/2 before collapsing spectacularly, losing eight wickets for a paltry 23 runs. Ghazanfar’s brilliance sent shockwaves through the Bangladesh batting line-up, leaving the Tigers reeling at 138/8.

Earlier, Mohammed Nabi’s brilliant 84 runs helped Afghanistan recover from a shaky start to post a respectable 235. Afghanistan, led by Hashmatullah Shahidi, had won the toss and elected to bat first.

“It was a good performance. We lost five wickets early, but Nabi batted positively and we spoke about 220 being a good score,” said a delighted Shahidi after the match. “The bowlers then did their job. Ghazanfar is a special talent and has a great future for Afghanistan.”

Bangladesh captain Najmul Shanto admitted their failure to execute their plans in the middle overs cost them the match. “We started well in the first 15-20 overs,” he said. “But we didn’t execute our plans in the middle overs. Nabi batted brilliantly. Afghanistan always have mystery spinners and he (Allah Ghazanfar) bowled really well.”

This victory extends Afghanistan’s impressive run of form, following their recent 2-1 series triumph over South Africa. Bangladesh, on the other hand, continue to struggle, suffering their fourth consecutive loss. The second ODI is scheduled for [Date].
