**Agra, Uttar Pradesh** – An Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG-29 fighter jet crashed in a field near Agra earlier today after encountering a system malfunction, the IAF confirmed. The pilot ejected safely before the aircraft hit the ground.
A video of the incident, which has gone viral online, shows the jet spiraling downwards in a flat spin before crashing. A flat spin is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening flight condition where the aircraft enters an uncontrolled spinning motion.
The IAF has ordered an inquiry into the cause of the accident. This marks the second MiG-29 crash in India this year, following a similar incident in Rajasthan’s Barmer on September 2nd, where a technical snag was attributed to the crash. The pilot in that incident also ejected safely.
The MiG-29, originally built by the USSR in 1983, was inducted into the Indian Air Force in 1987. The aircraft has since been upgraded with modern technologies.
