**Bengaluru, November 5, 2024:** A joyous family gathering turned into a tragedy on Sunday afternoon when three relatives drowned in a rainwater pond near Kambathanahalli village, on the outskirts of Chickballapur. The victims were identified as Ranjith (27), Ramya N. (24), and Abhilash Lakshminaryanappa (21).
The family had gathered for a lunch at a farmhouse after Deepavali celebrations. Following the meal, the trio wandered around the property and reached the pond. Ramya entered the pond to play but lost her footing in the silt and began drowning. Ranjith and Abhilash, unable to swim, jumped in to rescue her, but unfortunately succumbed to the water as well. The pond, police stated, was 20 feet deep.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with bodies of water, particularly during the monsoon season.
