**Thiruvananthapuram, November 5, 2024:** A tragic incident occurred on Monday in Thiruvananthapuram, claiming the life of a 16-year-old student. Midhun, son of Madhu from Attingal, was struck by lightning and died instantly. The incident took place while a group of students were gathered in an open space near Thiruchitrupara as part of their holiday activities.

A female student from the group also sustained burns and is currently being treated at the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital. The Nedumangad police are investigating the incident.

This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of open spaces during periods of lightning activity.
