**Kolhapur**: Former Minister Satej Patil was visibly shaken after the Congress candidate for the Kolhapur North constituency, Madhuri Maraje, abruptly withdrew her nomination for the upcoming assembly elections. Patil, visibly emotional, addressed his supporters, blaming an unexpected turn of events and pleading for their understanding.
Patil stated that he was unable to meet anyone since the afternoon of the incident. He explained that he attended a Congress party meeting where Rahul Desai, a former BJP leader, joined the party after several months of persuasion from Patil himself.
He attributed the candidate’s withdrawal to an unexpected event that he refused to comment on, stating that he was “not in a position to criticize”. Patil expressed deep disappointment and appealed to his supporters to stand by him, claiming that the situation was beyond his control.
Patil revealed that he received a phone call from Maraje at 2:36 pm informing him of her decision to withdraw. Despite his pleas to reconsider, Maraje was resolute. He acknowledged that the situation was “out of his hands”, and attributed his breakdown to the sudden turn of events.
Patil ended his statement by vowing to continue fighting for his supporters and assuring them that he would never let them down.
Meanwhile, Narayan Rane, a senior BJP leader, has expressed support for the Maha Yuva Shakti’s Sada Sarvankar in the Mahim constituency. Rane stated that he would be campaigning for Sarvankar, signaling the growing political dynamics in the run-up to the elections.
