**Patna, Bihar:** Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Darbhanga on November 13th to lay the foundation stone for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is also expected to attend the event.
Choudhary highlighted the significance of the AIIMS for North Bihar, which faces challenges like frequent flooding. “Prime Minister Modi is committed to addressing the issues of North Bihar,” Choudhary said, emphasizing the PM’s focus on regional development.
The Bihar government has already transferred 150.13 acres of land at the Ekmi-Shobhan bypass to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for the AIIMS project. This land transfer, completed in August, marks a key milestone in the project’s progress.
The Union Ministry approved the AIIMS Darbhanga project in July after a technical team assessed and confirmed the suitability of the chosen location. The project will see the establishment of advanced healthcare facilities in North Bihar, a region with high demand for improved medical infrastructure.
Besides the land transfer, the Union Health Ministry has outlined several infrastructure requirements for the AIIMS, including a permanent electricity connection, four-lane road connectivity, and potable water supply.
With the only existing AIIMS in Patna, the establishment of AIIMS Darbhanga will significantly enhance access to high-quality medical care for the people of North Bihar, reducing their reliance on distant facilities.
