**KOCHI, November 5, 2024** – Sudhamma, a dedicated forest guide at Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary, has been chosen as the recipient of the prestigious 27th P.V. Thampy Memorial Endowment Award for Environmental Protection.

Sudhamma, with over two decades of service, has become a renowned expert on the region’s birdlife, sharing her knowledge with countless visitors. “Sudhamma’s profound understanding of the forest and its avian inhabitants makes her an exemplary figure in environmental conservation,” said Ranjit Thampy, an environmentalist and son of the award’s namesake, P.V. Thampy.

For the past 26 years, the award committee has recognized the contributions of individuals dedicated to protecting the environment. This year, Sudhamma will receive a cash prize of ₹50,000 and a commemorative memento during a ceremony on November 12th at YMCA, Chittoor Road. Renowned ornithologist R. Sugathan will present the award.
