**Bengaluru, November 5, 2024:** The Karnataka High Court has ordered a notice to be issued to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the Central and State governments, the CBI, the Lokayukta police and other relevant parties. This follows a petition filed by Snehamayi Krishna seeking a CBI probe into the alleged scam involving the allotment of Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) sites.
The petition alleges that Mr. Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathi, and other individuals were involved in illegal allotments of 14 MUDA sites. This case stems from a complaint filed by Ms. Krishna, which led to the Special Court of Sessions for criminal cases against former and present MPs and MLAs ordering an investigation by the Lokayukta Police in Mysuru.
The petitioner, represented by Senior Advocate K.G. Raghavan, argued that the Lokayukta investigation may not inspire public confidence due to the Chief Minister’s influence over state agencies. The petition further alleges that Mr. Siddaramaiah has publicly claimed support from his political party, the State Government, and the Cabinet, potentially compromising the impartiality of the investigation.
The High Court, in its September 24 verdict, acknowledged the need for an investigation into the complaint against Mr. Siddaramaiah, dismissing his earlier petition challenging the probe. However, the High Court has now directed the Lokayukta police to provide details of their investigation by November 25th. Further hearing on the petition is scheduled for November 26th.
