Mon Nov 04 19:02:42 UTC 2024: ## Aluva Accident: Good Samaritan Injured After Trying To Save Pedestrian
**Aluva, Kerala:** A KochiA cargo van carrying vegetables overturned on the old Marthanda Varma bridge in Aluva early Monday morning after the driver swerved to avoid hitting a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, identified as Vipin (46) of Uliyannoor, was seriously injured after being struck by the van. The driver, in an attempt to avoid the impact, lost control and crashed into an elevated part of the bridge, causing the van to overturn.
Fortunately, A.A. Rahim, MP, who happened to be passing through the area at the time, arranged for an ambulance to transport Vipin to a nearby hospital. He contacted an ambulance service in Aluva and stayed until the ambulance arrived. Vipin is currently in the intensive care unit with a serious leg injury.
The accident caused significant traffic disruption on the Aluva flyover and the service road for about an hour. The van was eventually removed from the bridge by a crane.
Police are investigating the incident.
