Tue Nov 05 02:13:08 UTC 2024: ## India Condemns Attack on Hindu Temple in Canada, Urges Prosecution of Perpetrators

**Brampton, Canada:** The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India has strongly condemned the violent attack on the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Ontario, on November 4th, calling it an act perpetrated by “extremists and separatists.” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal urged the Canadian government to ensure the prosecution of those responsible.

The attack, which involved protesters carrying Khalistani flags clashing with attendees at the temple, has drawn widespread condemnation from Canadian politicians, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and opposition leader Pierre Poilievre. Both leaders condemned the violence and emphasized the right of all Canadians to practice their faith freely and safely.

The incident occurred during a consular outreach event organized by the Indian High Commission and the Hindu Sabha Mandir. The High Commission expressed concern for the safety of Indian nationals in Canada and reported that despite the disruption, they were able to issue over 1,000 life certificates to Indian and Canadian applicants.

The attack has further strained relations between India and Canada, which have been tense since Prime Minister Trudeau accused India of potential involvement in the killing of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar last September. New Delhi has dismissed these allegations as “absurd.”

Local authorities are investigating the incident, and the Canadian government has pledged to ensure the safety of all places of worship.
