**MUMBAI -** In a major philanthropic move, the Lodha family, owners of India’s leading real estate company, Lodha Group, has announced the transfer of a substantial portion of their shareholding in Macrotech Developers Ltd. (Lodha/MDL) to the Lodha Philanthropy Foundation (LPF). This donation, valued at approximately Rs. 20,000 crores (US$2.5 billion), marks a significant commitment to national and social upliftment causes.

The Lodha Philanthropy Foundation, a non-profit organization, will now hold a substantial stake in Macrotech Developers, making it a significant shareholder. The Foundation’s key focus areas are:

* **Mathematical Research:** The Foundation will support the India Mathematical Institute (IAM) to foster world-class mathematical research in India.
* **Education for Bright Minds:** Through its Genius program, LPF will identify and support academically gifted children from across India, providing them with access to financial, mentoring, and educational resources.
* **Global Scholarships:** The Lodha Scholars Program will offer scholarships of up to US$100,000 per year to meritorious Indian students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies at top global institutions.
* **Environmental Sustainability:** The Foundation will promote the transition of India’s built environment towards net-zero carbon emissions.
* **Education and Culture:** LPF will continue its focus on providing quality education to underprivileged students and promoting India’s rich heritage.
