**Madurai, November 4, 2024:** Water levels at the Mullaperiyar dam rose on Monday, with the level currently standing at 124.55 feet, just below the maximum permissible level of 142 feet. The inflow into the dam is recorded at 1,678 cusecs, exceeding the discharge of 1,100 cusecs.
Meanwhile, the Vaigai dam registered a water level of 63.45 feet (against a maximum of 71 feet), with an inflow of 2,862 cusecs and a discharge of 69 cusecs. The combined storage in the Periyar credit is reported to be 4,461.43 mcft.
Rainfall recorded in the 24 hours ending at 6 a.m. on Monday showed significant precipitation in various parts of the region: Marudhanadhi dam (29.8 mm), Andipatti (25.2 mm), Sothupparai dam (21.6 mm), Veerapandi (11.2 mm), Viraganur (6.2 mm), Manjalar dam (4 mm), Vaigai dam (2.8 mm), Kodaikanal (2.4 mm), and Peranai (1.6 mm).
