**KAKINADA, November 3, 2024:** The Ramya College of Nursing in Kakinada sparked outrage on Monday after it shut down its mess, denying 60 female students their lunch due to unpaid fees. The incident led to a student protest and intervention by district authorities.

Following reports of the protest, Kakinada Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) S. Mallibabu visited the college and held talks with the management and students. The RDO explained that the college claimed the students had failed to pay their fees, specifically a pending installment of the free reimbursement that is yet to be released by the government.

“The college management has assured us in writing that they will not close the mess again,” Mr. Mallibabu told The Hindu. The revenue officials have submitted a report on the incident to District Collector Sagili Shanmohan.
