**HYDERABAD, November 4, 2024:** The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has lambasted the Congress government for its alleged hypocrisy in the handling of irrigation projects. In a statement released on Sunday, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao accused the Congress of criticizing the Kaleshwaram project while simultaneously engaging in similar practices with the Sita Rama Lift Irrigation Scheme (SRLIS).

Rao questioned the government’s decision to call for tenders for SRLIS distributary construction valued at ₹1,074 crore without obtaining necessary approvals. He also alleged that the Congress is deliberately stalling the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme out of spite, forcing residents to migrate due to economic hardship.

Furthermore, Rao criticized the government’s inaction regarding fish seed release in water bodies, which he claims negatively affects fishermen communities.

The BRS’s accusations come amidst escalating tensions between the ruling Congress party and the opposition BRS over the state’s water resource management policies.
