Mon Nov 04 09:33:28 UTC 2024: ## Gautam Gambhir Breaks BCCI Rules, Faces Potential Action

**New Delhi:** The Indian Head Coach, Gautam Gambhir, has found himself in hot water after allegedly breaching a key BCCI rule. According to a report by news agency PTI, Gambhir participated in the selection committee meeting for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, despite BCCI regulations explicitly prohibiting coaches from doing so.

The selection committee finalized the Indian squad for the five-test series against Australia, a crucial series for the team’s World Test Championship aspirations. India needs to win at least four out of the five matches to qualify for the final.

The BCCI is yet to issue an official statement on Gambhir’s alleged breach. However, the incident could lead to disciplinary action against the coach.

**Team India’s Squad:**

* **Captain:** Rohit Sharma
* **Vice-Captain:** Jasprit Bumrah
* **Batsmen:** Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, and Dhruv Jurel
* **Wicketkeepers:** Rishabh Pant, and Dhruv Jurel
* **Bowlers:** R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Washington Sundar
* **Reserves:** Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini, and Khalil Ahmed

Gambhir’s coaching stint with the Indian team has been underwhelming so far. The team recently suffered a humiliating 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand in the home test series, the first time India has been whitewashed at home in a three-test series. Previously, the team had lost the ODI series against Sri Lanka in 2023, a significant setback for India.

The BCCI and its selection committee are now faced with the task of assessing the situation and potentially taking disciplinary action against Gambhir. The focus now shifts to the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where India will look to turn their fortunes around under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.
