**Rajamahendravaram, November 4, 2024:** A tragic accident occurred early this morning in Tadiparru village, Undrajavaram mandal, East Godavari district, claiming the lives of four individuals. The victims were electrocuted while setting up lighting for the unveiling ceremony of a Sardar Sarvayi Papanna Goud statue, erected by the local Goud Welfare Association.
The deceased have been identified as Bolla Veerraju, Pamarthi Nagendra, Moorisetti Manikanta, and Kasagani Krishna, all adults. One survivor, Komati Ananta Rao, is currently battling for life with severe burns at the Tanuku Government Hospital, where he was transferred for better treatment.
District Collector P. Prasanthi confirmed the incident and stated that the bodies of the deceased were sent to the Tanuku Government Hospital for post-mortem. Minister for Tourism and Culture, Kandula Durgesh, visited the hospital to inquire about the survivor’s condition and offer his condolences to the bereaved families. He announced an ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh for each deceased individual’s kin on behalf of the State government.
Governor S. Abdul Nazeer expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, offering his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.
The incident highlights the importance of safety precautions during such events, especially when handling electrical equipment. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fatal accident to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
