Mon Nov 04 12:52:45 UTC 2024: ## Barcelona’s Punter Named EuroLeague MVP for October
Barcelona’s new guard, Kevin Punter, has been named EuroLeague MVP for October, thanks to his blistering scoring performances that have propelled his team to the top of the standings. The 31-year-old American guard averaged 18.6 points per game in October, leading all scorers and ranking sixth in the league’s Performance Index Rating (PIR).
Punter’s efficiency has been remarkable, with a true shooting percentage of 71.0%, which is first among players attempting at least 10 shots per game. He has consistently delivered in Barcelona’s victories, averaging 20.2 points in the team’s five wins.
“Punter has settled into Barcelona better than anyone could have expected,” said a EuroLeague spokesperson. “He’s been particularly lethal in his team’s victories, averaging 20.2 points on 14-of-29 three-point shooting (48.3%), 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals for a PIR of 21.8.”
This is Punter’s fifth EuroLeague campaign, having previously played for Olympiacos, Zvezda, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, and Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade. He is just 75 points shy of reaching the 2,000-point milestone in the EuroLeague, a feat achieved by only 67 players in the competition’s history.
Barcelona’s success in the early stages of the season is largely attributed to Punter’s arrival. His scoring prowess has added a potent weapon to the Catalan giants’ arsenal, putting them within one win of the top spot in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings.
