Mon Nov 04 07:24:08 UTC 2024: ## Babar Azam Makes Decent Return in First ODI Against Australia

Melbourne, Australia – Babar Azam made a reasonable return to international cricket in Pakistan’s first ODI against Australia on Monday, November 4, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The former captain scored 37 runs off 44 balls, hitting four boundaries before being dismissed by Adam Zampa.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Pakistan lost early wickets, including debutant Saim Ayub who was dismissed for just one run. However, Babar steadied the innings, showcasing his trademark elegance with some powerful shots, including a flick off Pat Cummins and a cut shot off Sean Abbott.

Despite his promising start, Babar’s innings was cut short in the 18th over when Zampa bowled him through his defenses.

The Pakistani batsman was involved in a 39-run partnership for the third wicket with the newly appointed white-ball captain, Mohammad Rizwan. His dismissal left Pakistan at 63/3 after 17.4 overs.

Babar was recently dropped from the national Test team after a difficult series against England. He will be looking to make a strong statement and contribute significantly in the remaining two ODIs in Adelaide and Perth.
