**Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh:** The results for the Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2024 have been announced, with over 50% of the candidates qualifying. Minister Nara Lokesh made the announcement, revealing that 1,87,256 candidates successfully cleared the exam, a success rate of 50.79%.
The minister extended his best wishes to all the qualified candidates and assured them of the government’s commitment to fulfill its promises to the unemployed youth. He further emphasized the importance of the TET for securing teaching positions in the state.

The TET was conducted from October 3rd to 21st, with 4,27,300 candidates applying and 3,68,661 candidates appearing for the exam. The state government has been preparing for a mega Direct Recruitment of Teachers (DRT) for 16,347 teacher positions, making this TET crucial for aspiring educators.
As per the Right to Education Act and National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) regulations, qualifying in the TET is mandatory for teaching positions from classes 1st to 8th. The qualification is valid for life. Candidates who clear Paper-1 are eligible for SGT positions (teaching classes 1st to 5th), while those who clear Paper-2 qualify for School Assistant positions (teaching classes 6th to 8th). The TET result carries 20% weightage in the DRT process.
