**Amaravati, October 30, 2024:** The Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) results for 2024 have been announced today, with over 1.87 lakh candidates qualifying for the exam. Minister Nara Lokesh revealed the results, stating that 50.79% of the candidates who appeared for the exam cleared it.
The exam was conducted from October 3rd to 21st, with a total of 4,27,300 applications received and 3,68,661 candidates appearing for the test. The state government had organized the exam as part of its preparations for a mega District Selection Committee (DSC) process to fill 16,347 teacher vacancies.
According to the Minister, the TET qualification is a lifetime validity and mandatory for teaching positions from 1st to 8th grade, as per the Right to Education Act and National Council of Teacher Education guidelines. Candidates who clear Paper-1 are eligible for SGT posts (teaching 1st to 5th grade), while those who clear Paper-2 are eligible for School Assistant positions (teaching 6th to 8th grade).

The Minister further emphasized that the state government is dedicated to fulfilling its promises to the unemployed youth and is committed to transparency in the recruitment process. The TET score carries a weightage of 20% in the DSC process.
The state government is moving towards a more streamlined teacher recruitment process, with plans to conduct the TET twice annually.
