**Agra, Uttar Pradesh:** A MiG-29 fighter jet belonging to the Indian Air Force crashed near Agra on Monday afternoon. The pilot and a co-pilot were able to eject safely before the plane hit the ground.
According to the Indian news agency ANI, the aircraft took off from Adampur in Punjab and was en route to Agra for a routine exercise when the incident occurred. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The aircraft caught fire in the air before crashing into a field near the village of Songa in the Kagarol area of Agra. Local authorities and security forces have arrived at the crash site.
A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the crash. All relevant agencies have been alerted to assist in the investigation.
