**New Delhi, November 3, 2024:** India has achieved a remarkable 17.7% decline in TB incidence between 2015 and 2023, exceeding the global decline rate of 8.3%, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed this achievement as a testament to India’s dedicated and innovative efforts in combating the disease.
In a statement on social media, Mr. Modi emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to achieving a TB-free India. He underlined the importance of collective spirit and continued efforts to reach this goal.
Health Minister J.P. Nadda attributed the success to the government’s strengthened National TB Elimination Programme, which includes initiatives like the Ni-Kshay Poshan Yojana providing nutritional support to TB patients and the introduction of the BPALM regimen for Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis.
