Sun Nov 03 16:12:54 UTC 2024: ## BJP Appoints Sunil Sharma as Leader of the Opposition in J&K Assembly

**Srinagar, November 3, 2024:** Former Minister Sunil Sharma has been elected as the leader of the Jammu and Kashmir BJP legislature party. Sharma, the MLA from Padder Nagseni in Kishtwar district, will now lead the opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.

The decision was announced after a meeting of the BJP legislature party. Sharma, 47, was elected to the Assembly for a second term in the recent elections. He narrowly won from the newly created Padder Nagseni constituency, formed after the 2022 delimitation process in the Union Territory.

Sharma served as Minister of State in the PDP-BJP coalition government between 2014 and 2018. He expressed gratitude to the party’s central and state leadership for the appointment, stating his commitment to representing the people’s aspirations both within and outside the assembly.

Narinder Singh has been nominated by the BJP as their candidate for the post of Deputy Speaker.

When asked about his priorities, Sharma declared, “The battle begins tomorrow. We will identify our opponent and attack accordingly.”
