Sun Nov 03 12:53:43 UTC 2024: ## Rahul Gandhi Calls for Protection of Constitution in Wayanad Campaign Speech

**MANANTHAVADY (WAYANAD), November 3, 2024:** Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has asserted that the preservation of the Indian Constitution is the paramount struggle in the country today. Addressing a public meeting in Wayanad on Sunday, Gandhi urged voters to recognize the fundamental values enshrined in the Constitution, calling it the foundation of India’s respect and dignity.

Gandhi emphasized that the Constitution was not born out of anger or hatred, but was crafted by those who fought against colonial rule, endured hardship, and spent years in prison. He described the current struggle as a conflict between love and hatred, confidence and insecurity, urging people to choose love, humility, and compassion.

In a moving moment, Gandhi recalled his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s act of embracing Nalini, a woman implicated in their father Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination. He highlighted this as an example of the kind of political ethos needed in India, one based on love and compassion, not animosity.

Gandhi’s speech came during his sister’s election campaign in Wayanad, where she is the United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is scheduled to continue her campaign with a series of meetings across the constituency on Monday.

The campaign is expected to conclude on November 7th.
