Sun Nov 03 15:25:31 UTC 2024: ## NorthEast United FC and Odisha FC Set for Mid-Table Clash in Guwahati
Guwahati is set to witness an exciting clash between NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) and Odisha FC (OFC) on Sunday, as both teams aim to climb out of the mid-table in the Indian Super League (ISL).
The Highlanders and the Juggernauts are currently tied on eight points from six matches, occupying the fifth and seventh positions respectively. NEUFC comes into the match off a convincing 5-0 victory over Jamshedpur FC, while OFC settled for a 1-1 draw at home against MCFC.
NEUFC boasts a strong start, having scored four of their opening goals within the first 15 minutes of matches this season – the highest such tally in the ISL. Meanwhile, OFC, alongside Bengaluru FC and Punjab FC, are yet to concede a goal in that opening period.
Odisha will be desperate for a win, having gone seven matches without a victory. However, their coach, Sergio Lobera, has a poor record in Guwahati, having failed to win any of his last four matches in the city.
Historically, the two teams have clashed 10 times in the ISL, with OFC winning six and NEUFC claiming victory in three, while one match ended in a draw.
NEUFC’s Alaaeddine Ajaraie will be looking to add another goal to his tally, aiming to become the second ISL player to score in seven consecutive matches, following in the footsteps of Kalu Uche for Delhi Dynamos FC in 2018.
