**Mumbai, India** – Mumbai City FC secured their first home win of the season, defeating Kerala Blasters FC 4-2 in a captivating Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Mumbai Football Arena on Sunday.
The Islanders were quick out of the blocks, taking the lead in the 9th minute through a well-worked goal from Nikos Karelis, assisted by Lallianzuala Chhangte. Kerala struggled to break down the Mumbai defense in the first half, but found their footing in the second.
Jesus Jimenez pulled one back for the Blasters in the 57th minute, bringing the visitors back into the match. However, Mumbai responded swiftly, doubling their lead through a Nikolaos Karelis penalty in the 53rd minute.
The match took a dramatic turn in the 72nd minute when Kwame Peprah scored a spectacular equalizer for Kerala. However, the celebration was short-lived as Peprah was sent off for removing his jersey, leaving the Blasters with ten men.
Mumbai took advantage of the numerical superiority and regained the lead through Nathan Rodrigues in the 75th minute. Chhangte sealed the victory for Mumbai City in the 90th minute, converting a penalty to give the Islanders a comfortable 4-2 win.
Despite the loss, Kerala Blasters displayed resilience and fighting spirit throughout the match. However, their inability to capitalize on their chances and the red card to Peprah ultimately cost them the points.
