**Jamshedpur, November 3, 2024:** Jamshedpur FC will be looking to bounce back from their recent heavy loss against NorthEast United FC when they host Chennaiyin FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Monday in the Indian Super League (ISL). The match will see a reunion of former friends turned foes, including Owen Coyle, Farukh Choudhary, and Daniel Chima Chukwu, all of whom previously played for Jamshedpur FC.
Both teams have started the season strongly, but suffered setbacks in their previous matches. Jamshedpur FC were defeated 5-0 away to NorthEast United, while Chennaiyin FC lost 3-2 to Punjab FC in New Delhi. This clash holds significant importance as both sides will be eager to prevent a slump in form.
Jamshedpur FC have a strong record at home against Chennaiyin FC, remaining undefeated in their last four encounters. They have secured one victory and three draws in this period. In fact, Chennaiyin FC’s only win at the JRD Tata Sports Complex came nearly seven years ago, on December 28, 2017.
Jamshedpur FC’s head coach, Khalid Jamil, acknowledged the crushing loss to NorthEast United but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to perform better in this match. “We faced a big loss, so it’s time to put in the efforts and perform better,” he said. “We had enough time to reflect and rectify our mistakes and we will try to do that tomorrow.”
Owen Coyle, the Chennaiyin FC manager, has a strong track record against his former club. He has won two and drawn two out of his four encounters against Jamshedpur FC in the ISL. Notably, his teams have scored a total of 11 goals against Jamshedpur FC, making it the only ISL team he hasn’t lost to.
Coyle praised Jamil’s coaching abilities but emphasized that his admiration will not stop Chennaiyin FC from seeking victory. “Khalid is an excellent coach. He has shown it at a number of clubs. Jamshedpur FC have given him an opportunity that he has grabbed with both hands. For the duration of the game, we will be doing everything to win,” Coyle said.
The two teams have faced each other 14 times in the ISL, with Chennaiyin FC winning six games and Jamshedpur FC winning three. Five encounters have ended in draws.
