**Mumbai, India** – Shubman Gill’s impressive 90 runs and a quickfire 60 from Rishabh Pant propelled India to a 28-run lead against New Zealand in the third and final Test at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday. This crucial first innings lead gives India a fighting chance after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli once again failed to deliver.

Gill, who scored the most runs by an Indian batter against New Zealand in the first innings, praised his technical work leading up to the Test, citing his successful approach against spinners during the recent England series. “It was all about me working on the areas that I’ve worked before the England series,” Gill shared in the post-match conference.

The young batter attributed his success to a clear mindset and a focus on enjoying the pressure situation. “I was honestly trying to have fun,” he said. “I was not trying to put too much pressure on myself (by) thinking I have to score these many runs. I was trying to have fun in the middle and enjoy that moment, even if it was difficult.”
