Hyderabad: The Telangana government has given the green light for the construction of the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project. The project, which spans 76.4 kilometers, is expected to be a joint venture between the central and state governments. The state government has issued a Government Order (GO) 196 for the project, which is estimated to cost ₹24,269 crores. The Telangana government will contribute ₹7,313 crores to the project.
The second phase of the metro project is expected to significantly expand the city’s public transportation network, easing traffic congestion and providing a more efficient and environmentally friendly mode of travel. The construction of the project is expected to generate employment opportunities and contribute to the overall economic growth of the city.
