**Madurai, November 3, 2024:** The Madurai M.G.R. bus stand witnessed a surge in passengers on Sunday, the last day of a four-day holiday, as people rushed to board buses to their workplaces in cities like Coimbatore, Chennai, and Bengaluru. While many travelers had planned their journeys on Saturday to avoid the crowds, a significant number were left scrambling for seats on Sunday.
Despite the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) reportedly arranging special buses, passengers found it difficult to secure seats on the busy day. Many had booked tickets on SETC or private omni buses in advance, but those who hadn’t faced difficulties finding transportation.
As all buses were booked, some passengers were able to board buses in the afternoon, but by the evening, even finding a bus became challenging. TNSTC officials responded by arranging additional mofussil buses to Chennai to manage the crowd.
Passengers waiting in the evening expressed concern about their travel plans, as they were scheduled to return to work on Monday. Some were even willing to pay extra for omni buses if it meant securing a seat.
