Sat Nov 02 20:50:27 UTC 2024: ## North Korea Pledges Support to Russia in Ukraine War, Sending Troops to Border
**MOSCOW/PYONGYANG** – North Korea has declared its unwavering support for Russia in the ongoing war in Ukraine, with reports emerging of thousands of North Korean soldiers now stationed on Russian soil, poised to potentially enter the conflict. This development comes as Russia grapples with a manpower shortage and seeks to bolster its forces.
According to US sources, the North Korean troops are concentrated in Russia’s Kursk region, the site of intense fighting as Ukraine continues its counter-offensive. Analysts suggest that the arrival of North Korean soldiers could significantly alter the battlefield dynamics.
“This is a clear sign that Russia is struggling,” states Graham Ong-Webb, Adjunct fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies. “Their reliance on North Korean troops indicates a desperate attempt to replenish their dwindling resources.”
While the Kremlin remains silent on the matter, Pyongyang has publicly declared its solidarity with Moscow, further solidifying their alliance.
Military analyst Pavel Felgenhauer argues that the recruitment of North Korean soldiers could signify a shift in Russian strategy, highlighting a willingness to build new alliances in the face of Western pressure.
“This could be a sign of Russian strength,” Felgenhauer asserts. “By forging new partnerships, Russia is demonstrating its resilience and determination.”
Craig Mark, Adjunct lecturer at Hosei University, Tokyo, remains cautious, stating that “the true impact of North Korean involvement remains uncertain. Their capabilities and willingness to engage directly in combat are yet to be fully understood.”
The deployment of North Korean troops into Russia, while unconfirmed by Moscow, raises concerns about the escalating conflict in Ukraine and the potential implications for global security.
