**Vijayawada, November 2, 2024:** A case has been registered against former MP K. Gorantla Madhav and a private television channel for allegedly revealing the identities of six rape victims, including two minors, in Andhra Pradesh. The complaint was filed by Vasireddy Padma, former Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, who met with Police Commissioner S.V. Rajashekar Babu in Vijayawada on Saturday.
Padma alleged that Madhav divulged the victims’ names while speaking to the television channel, and the interview was subsequently uploaded to social media. The police have launched an investigation into the matter.
This incident highlights the ongoing concern regarding the protection of victims’ identities in sexual assault cases. Revealing such information is a serious offense and can have devastating consequences for the victims.
