Sun Nov 03 06:05:40 UTC 2024: ## Chennai Super Kings Eyeing Ravichandran Ashwin for IPL 2025

**Chennai, India:** Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are reportedly looking to bring back veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. The news comes after Ashwin was not retained by his current franchise, Rajasthan Royals, following the conclusion of IPL 2024.

Sources within the Times of India suggest that CSK have Ashwin on their radar for the upcoming mega auction. Ashwin, who made his IPL debut with CSK in 2009, played for the franchise until 2015 before moving to other teams. He has a rich history with the Chennai-based franchise, having taken 90 wickets in 97 matches for them. Just a few months ago, Ashwin expressed his desire to return to CSK.

In addition to Ashwin, CSK are expected to use their Right To Match (RTM) option for New Zealand batter Devon Conway, who joined the team in the 2022 mega auction. Conway has consistently impressed for CSK, scoring 924 runs in 23 matches over the past three seasons.

The five-time IPL champions also aim to bring back Kiwi all-rounders Rachin Ravindra and Mitchell Santner, along with Indian pacers Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur.

CSK have already retained five players ahead of the mega auction: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja at Rs 18 crore each, Matheesha Pathirana for Rs 13 crore, Shivam Dube for Rs 12 crore, and former captain MS Dhoni for Rs 4 crore. Dhoni, despite quitting the captaincy, will continue playing for CSK in IPL 2025.

CSK’s focus on building a strong team for next season comes after a disappointing performance in IPL 2024, where they failed to qualify for the playoffs. The team will be aiming to bounce back in 2025, and the potential acquisition of Ashwin could be a significant factor in their success.
