**Mumbai, India** – A 24-year-old woman, Fatima Khan, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly sending a death threat to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Khan, who holds a BSc degree in Information Technology and resides in Ulhasnagar, Thane district, Maharashtra, was apprehended following a joint operation by the Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Ulhasnagar police.
The threat message was received on Saturday by the Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp number. The message, sent from an unknown number, warned that CM Adityanath would be killed if he did not resign within 10 days. The message referenced the recent killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique in Mumbai.
Police investigations revealed Khan to be the sender of the threat message. While she is highly educated, authorities have mentioned that she has been experiencing mental instability.
The arrest comes as Adityanath is expected to campaign in Maharashtra for the upcoming state assembly elections in November. The Mumbai police are on high alert, with the recent threat further intensifying security measures.
This is not the first time CM Adityanath has been targeted. On March 2, an unknown caller threatened to blow up the Chief Minister with a bomb. The case was registered against an unknown person.
Further investigations into Khan’s motives and the authenticity of the threat are ongoing.
